Hi Ortzy, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi guys! It’s a pleasure to finally feature on Vents! I’ve been doing great, working a lot on the new songs for this 2018 and very happy for the response that I’m getting about my solo project again after the good experience with HIIO

Can you talk to us more about your song “Stand Up”?

‘Stand Up’ it’s a beautiful track for me, we started this project a couple months ago after I met Ben Ambergen during ADE and he told me he was really good friend of two super talented twins from Australia that were doing great things at The Voice Australia and that we should make a song together with them because they wanted to make Dance Music so everything came in the right moment for all of us and we decided to create this beautiful song!

Did any event inspire you to write this song?

Not really, at least on our side as producers haha.. But maybe Bec or Sebastian did. What Ben I did was to prove a different style, in this case Future Bass and mix different elements to make it sound unique and call the attention of the Pop music lovers.

Any plans to release a video for the track?

For now we are working on the Lyric Video which will be released 1 week after the release of the single but regarding the official video, it will have to wait until the reaction of the people to the song, then we will think about it.

How was the recording and writing process?

Ben and I created some chord progressions and added some beats to create the idea of the direction we wanted for the song, then Bec and Seb started writing the lyrics and the melody. Once we had the 2 rough versions of the instrumental and vocals, we started going back and forth creating the missing elements and tweaking details to make it perfect.

What was it like to work with Ben Ambergen and what did he brought up to the table?

Ben really loves the music with powerful bass lines and drums… and I’m more into the melodic side of the song, so it was the perfect combination for a song that needed beautiful and melodic sounds but also that has that energetic drop.

What role does the Netherlands play in your writing?

To live here changes completely the way you live the dance music. Amsterdam is a magical city with so many different cultures that makes you try different rhythms, elements and also lose the fear of trying different type of songs.

Would you call this a total departure from your previous work?

Definitely yes. ‘Stand Up’ and my previous song ‘Press Repeat’ released 4 weeks ago are completely different than what I used to produce when I was living in Colombia and Argentina. I felt it was time for me to try more my “commercial music side” and lay aside the festival EDM bangers that I used to produce. I would like to get more involved into music where you can collaborate and work side by side with singers, musicians… and not only me in front of my laptop.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, completely! I’m working in music almost every day so this will be a year full of different styles and music challenges for me.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I have a few that I need to decide where and when to release them but as soon as I decide that I will send you guys the exclusive! hahah

Any plans to hit the road?

These months for me are really focussed on making new songs and exploring this new music side as I mentioned before. I think from October onwards I will start my shows again.

What else is happening next in Ortzy´s world?

I’m super excited about my solo project, people have received it in such an amazing way that I was not even expecting and that makes me feel very happy and proud. These next months the most important for me is to create with my solo brand that engagement with the fans that I didn’t have when I was with HIIO because everything I did was for the duo but now it’s time to focus on me as solo artist so my fans will get a looooot of good music in the next months and way more!
