Multi-platinum Country superstar and beloved actor Billy Ray Cyrus opens up about the highs and lows of his legendary life in entertainment in this exclusive look at an all-new episode of The Big Interview—airing Tuesday, April 10 at 9pE/6pP.
During the candid conversation, Cyrus discusses his meteoric rise to Country superstardom following the release of his signature single “Achy Breaky Heart” in 1992. Looking to move forward in his music, Cyrus drew upon the wisdom of the legends that came before him. He explains, “I think a lot about Dolly, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Carl Perkins, Waylon [Jennings]… All of these guys and girls said the same thing, “Let the music be your truth.” Every one of those great artists always came back to truth, truth in the music.” Facing his newfound fame, Cyrus reveals that it was his love of music that helped him stay grounded. He continues, “I said, you know, ‘Cyrus, all your heroes are tellin’ you the same thing. Do what you do because you love it, and keep it real, and let the music be your truth.’ So I leaned heavy into that.”
