Hot on the heels of her celebrated performances at YouTube Space and as special guest for Nadine Shah at London’s Roundhouse, enigmatic London-based singer, songwriter and producer Sera EKE is back with a new EP called ‘White Room’, a real statement of intent following her acclaimed ‘Coup Coup Coup’ EP.
The title track is a dark, brooding, cinematic and slightly unsettling slow jam, which somehow also manages to be EKE’s most accessible offering yet. The other two tracks again demonstrate the scope of her sound and the reason why she is currently seen as such a hot property: opener ‘Odd’ comes with a highly unusual time signature and quirky production ideas (rarely has a song title been more apt), whilst ‘Haze’ has almost gothic undertones and features a guitar riff to die for! Written and produced by EKE herself, the EP was again mixed by Brian Eno‘s longstanding guitarist Leo Abrahams, producer of recent album releases by Regina Spektor, Editors and Ghostpoet respectively.
In Sera’s own words: “The Last EP was the upshot of the chaos and madness all around us, whereas this EP is talking about the turmoil, commotion and disruption deep inside of me.”
‘White Room’ is out on 13 April 2018 and will be available across all major online stores and on all streaming platforms.
