There are multiple ways for an artist to excel and these days it takes an exceptionally good voice and flow to stand out among the abundance of pop stars. As a multi-form artist, Neela is showcasing an eclectic take on today’s electro-pop and carries a style worthy of distinction. In a society that feeds on self-doubt, liking yourself is a brave act that Neela undeniably masters. Neela certifies the need to “embrace your own authentic self in all of its weirdness and complexities.” As she further explains, “I used to want to be a hero, now I just want to be me, I don’t have to be perfect. I create music for people to connect, to dance, to laugh, and to live in the moment”.
In Toronto, Neela was spotted by renowned producer Beatchild who is internationally acknowledged as a producer whose touch “turns to gold”. Looking at his resume this is certainly believable, having worked with Drake, Shad, and Tanika Charles who are all big names that broke out of Toronto not too long ago. Singing about confused feelings over dramatic chords in her new single “Tripped Up”, Neela gives us accessibility in her romantically relatable music. “Tripped Up” is the first release off Neela’s forthcoming EP, Lovers in Danger and it is a late-night dancefloor track with Neela’s lustful and soft vocals heard over pulsating and penetrative beats. The track exudes a sort of sexiness that perfectly feeds what is desired from a late-night dancefloor track. Her brand of sexually-charged vocals and confidence beg its listeners to fully engage and embrace-in her art , making sure not to let go for the night.
