Leeds rock n’ roll band Velvela announce their arrival with the release of their debut single Prowl today (available on all download/streaming platforms) and a new video to accompany the track. The feral slice of down and dirty fuzz rock is powered by scorching guitar riffs, pounding drums and howling vocals.
“We wanted our first single to be in your face, simple and catchy so people know what we’re all about” explains frontman Sean Kildunne. “The song is about the need to have something more from a relationship after a one-night stand. The girl is playing hard to get and the man in the lyric is kind of chasing her and hunting her down, and it’s all soundtracked by these huge guitar riffs.”
After time spent in previous bands touring up and down the UK earning their stripes, Velvela arrive fully formed in 2018 as a fiery blues-rock gang spilling over with energy and ambition. Inspired by the greats (Led Zeppelin, Jack White) and modern artists like QOTSA and Rival Sons, they’ve already made a storming impression at shows with This Feeling and Jack Daniels Rocks. With Prowl on the loose, this is just the beginning for the young rock n’ rollers.
