Hi! Thank you! I’ve been great! Excited to be talking with you today!
-Can you talk to us more about your latest single “the risk”?
I’d love to! I usually utilize songwriting to understand emotions I’m going through, and “the risk” was no different. I was beginning to experience what it meant to be emotionally vulnerable with someone, and with that comes the realization of the risk that follows.
-Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I wouldn’t say just one particular event… I’m in a really great relationship, and I realized as we got closer, you become more and more exposed. While it can be scary, ultimately, it’s worth it. Like I mentioned above, I love to use songwriting as a way process what I’m going through, and writing this song helped me do that.
-Any plans to release a video for the single? If so, tell us about it!
Yes!! The music video is on the way. I’ve been calling it my utopian dreamland… it’s very magical. The visual side of my music is very important to me, and it is just another creative outlet that I am able to express myself with. It was so much fun filming my first music video and really letting these ideas in my head come to life.
-How was the recording and writing process?
The recording and writing process was very organic. I co-wrote, “the risk” with my producer, Tyler Murray, in Nashville. We wrote this song after we had worked together multiple other times, so at this point, we understood how each other worked. I think we wrote the song and had most of the production completed in under 3 hours; it came very naturally. As a songwriter, you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable; I think that’s when the most authentic work is made.
-What role does Nashville play in your writing?
Nashville plays a huge role in my writing. Every music city, like LA or New York, is a little different in how they operate, especially in how co-writes go. I’m so happy I grew up in Nashville because I think starting to co-write here made me into the writer I am. However, I also love to go to other places, like LA, to write as well, because it re-inspires you in a new way. Nashville writers emphasize on storytelling in their lyrics – even if my music sounds more pop/RnB, I will always be heavily influenced by Nashville’s writing style.
-Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
Eventually! I think right now I’m focusing on releasing singles. I’m constantly writing and getting the right songs together for my first album. For now, the only place you can hear everything is if you come see a live show!
-Any plans to hit the road?
Oh yes, I can’t wait to start performing again; being on stage makes me so happy. I’m working right now to get my live show revamped – it will be a lot of new material that no one has heard yet, so I’m really excited.
-What else is happening next in Abigail Rose’s world?
My first music video is coming out very soon, and more music is on the way! I’m currently in LA writing, and escaping the cold weather in Nashville.
