Hi ladies, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi Vents! We’ve been good thanks – very busy but good.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Liar Liar”?
‘Liar Liar’ was the first track we wrote for the 2nd album which we have been working on over the last year it was actually released in March 2017, we didn’t want to lose momentum from the 1st album so we stuck that out while we were busy writing the rest of the tracks.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
The song consists of 3 events actually, things that were happening to people around me at the time. It’s about hitting a low, but managing to move on from the situation and rebuilding. I think everyone can relate to that at some point in their lives.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
The single comes off your new album Reverse The Curse – what’s the story behind the title?
During writing and playing gigs we had a fair few things go wrong. We felt cursed. So we agreed we needed to fix things and ‘Reverse The Curse’ since saying it we have had no further things mess up so we decided to use it for the album name as a good omen!
How was the recording and writing process?
It was good actually, it took a little longer than we had planned, but we have been busy touring the west coast of California, Netherlands and all over the UK . That has taken up a lot of time and rehearsal. We’ve been writing in between all this travel.
We worked with Jay Graham from Tenko Studios in Nottingham, he is the drummer for Thrash Metal legends Ravens Creed – I think that’s what helps give it that extra boost on the hard rock edge side of things, whilst we keep our sweet pop vocals. Its Equal parts lipstick pouts and knife fights!
What role does Nottingham play in your music?
We are proud to be from Nottingham! The music scene is thriving here. We are a DIY band and the DIY scene is huge in Nottingham. There are a lot of brilliant underground venues you really need to visit and watch a band – Stuck On A Name, JT Soar, Chameleon Arts Café and so many more.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
Our lyrics come from daily life situations, films, history basically everywhere!
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes! We are currently booking gigs from September – December so if you are a booking agent, promoter or venue please get in touch with us at [email protected]
What else is happening next in You Want Fox’s world?
We will be pushing the album until the end of the year. We really want to re visit Los Angeles so hopefully this album will do well enough to fund us going back there for more shows in 2019!
