HINDS Share New Song “Finally Floating”

Hinds will release their highly anticipated sophomore album I Don’t Run next week, and today they share the album’s third single “Finally Floating.” Perhaps the most bold and confident we’ve heard Hinds yet, “Finally Floating” revolves around a dance floor-ready beat as Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote exchange vocals like duelling bulls. “I’m feeling great ’till I’m laying in bed and all these random melodies sound again,” they shriek while likening their experience to being trapped in suspended reality. The music video for “Finally Floating,” out now exclusively on Apple Music, was directed by Wiissa (The Strokes, Phoenix, KaliUchis, Karen O) and features a Hinds bike tour around their hometown of Madrid. Listen to the song and read the band’s profile in The FADER HERE, listen on streaming services HERE and watch the music video on Apple Music HERE.

Hinds on “Finally Floating” video:

“maybe you know, maybe you don’t know, but we’ve been born and raised in Madrid and she’s definitely the best city of the world. so for this second album it’s was a must to have a music video showing a little bit of the streets, and wiisa came out with the idea of the bikes and we loved it. ana didn’t know how to ride one so she had to practice with her roommate the day before shooting loli love the way this video is more tranquile than the others, giving a more chilled vibe for such a apotheosic song.”

It’s been over two years since Hinds released their breakout debut album Leave Me Alone, and the band will release I Don’t Run on April 6 via Mom + Pop, showcasing a bigger, better, faster, funnier, more dexterous Hinds. Co-produced by Hinds and Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor), and engineered by Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Perfume Genius, The War On Drugs, John Legend), I Don’t Run is the product of a band fighting for their place, a band unwilling to rely upon their successes, a band who have just begun to prove themselves, and a band who plays hard but works even harder. With this second LP they continue their quest to own their narrative – one of sisters doing it for themselves. “We loved making this album,” says Ana Perrote. “We knew what we wanted and we have what we wanted. This is a new start for us and we’re fucking ready.” Pre-order I Don’t Run HERE.

Since 2014, the band has been on a globe-trotting run. In that time, they’ve had it all thrown at them: world tours, sold-out crowds, harsh criticism, sexism, and all that lies in-between. Through it all, Hinds never professed to being error-free, and have become better musicians, tighter friends and tougher characters for surviving it all. “If you’re looking for mistakes Hinds is your band,” says Cosials. “We make mistakes but we really are proud of what we have and we wannaprove the doubters wrong.”

Leave Me Alone was an album of party anthems drenched in metaphors. With I Don’t Run, it’s time to cut straight to the chase. Some might expect them to write songs about being happy, young and carefree – “but we’re not satisfied with that,” explains Ana Perrote. “On this album the struggles are clear. We want to be brave.” I Don’t Run is Hinds’ return with an honest reflection on a period that changed their lives beyond their wildest imaginations.
