Today marks the release of “La Cintura,” the long-awaited single from Álvaro Soler’s upcoming second album, Colores. The first single off Soler’s second album and the accompanying music videoarrives via UMG Germany/ Interscope Records.
“La Cintura”, translated to “the waist” in English, relates the story of a man, presumably Soler, himself, who can’t dance—the waist being the focal point—and asks a woman for assistance in guiding his hips.
“When I wrote the song, I kept thinking I still need to take ‘La Cintura’ (hips) out of the chorus, because it’s not me at all. I’m quite tall and lanky, and absolutely not a dancer. But then I thought, why not use my own insecurity – basically the fact that it looks ridiculous when I dance – and write about it. If I’m just honest, maybe it’ll become a strength in the end…” states Soler regarding the song’s content.
Shot in Cuba, the music video carries the same element of playfulness as the soon-to-be hit single. A crowd-pleaser and sure to be summer hit, the song celebrates and welcomes all dancers.
