Stella marks her return with a mesmeric and soul-saturated new track “Greys” – her first drop of the year. Equal parts sophisticated neo-soul, earthy, smoky vocal and frank lyricism, it’s clear to see why Stella is tipped as an artist of note for the year. Listen here
Moving to and residing in Brixton since 2016 where she released her debut EP “Space”, the obvious quality and technique saw her shortlisted for Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition that same year. It’s fitting to know Brixton is still home to bonafide young soul talents such as this. Stella brings back a much-missed melodic bounce on “Greys”, and sets the tone for what should be a serious year.
On the track Stella states “Greys is a song about seducing someone out of the addiction they’re using to avoid facing their demons. I wrote it at a time when I was finding it difficult to connect with someone and get them to let go of their defenses and well, let me in, because they didn’t want to see what lay beneath the surface either. I wanted to expose the fear people have of facing their shadow, aka Greys”.
