SPELLES ‘SKELETON COAST’ OUT NOW!

Skeleton Coast I’s name was inspired by the desolate stretch of animal bones and shipwrecks along the coast of Namibia, actually refers to her life in LA. “I developed a lot of anxiety, depression, and health issues when I moved to the West Coast after college and it felt like the perfect title to represent those experiences. There’s also something really spooky and primal about the sound of it, which are elements I like to play with in my music.” Stream on Spotify here. The full tracklist follows below;

  1. Dead In The Water

  2. Light Me On Fire

  3. Teach Me How To Pray

  4. Down To The River

  5. Wildfire

Spooky and mysterious; Down to The River, one of the two tracks exclusive to EP release packs a serious punch. “Safe and sound since I found my hands were holding me down, I let go I let go, down in the river.” This song is about realizing that a lot of the suffering in my life at the time was self-created” Baar Explains, “It reminds me of the Mark Twain quote “There has been much tragedy in my life; at least half of it actually happened.” It was a huge realization to learn how to get out of my own way and stop doubting myself. “

You could say there’s a small darkness that lives in everybody and the music of SPELLES, even at the most innate level, seems to explore those very inner feelings within. Her music has the power to hit like a hard wave washing in upon the rocks, exploring every chasm within, and leaving the listener with its soul out on display.
