Georgie Keller is a solo artist who hails from South London originally but is constantly between the UK and Germany recording and writing. His style evokes elements of Ed Sheeran-esque songwriting, laced with heavier urban influences that resonate with the likes of Mura Masa.
Late 2017, Georgie released his latest single ‘BUZZ’ (which has already seen over 70k plays on Spotify). 2018 is no exception for Keller in regards to success; he’s just been longlisted for the UMAs (Unsigned Music Awards) ‘Best Male Solo Act 2018’ alongside other prominent up-and-coming UK names such as Puma Blue, Rex Orange County, and MOBO-award nominated Kojey Radical.
“My music is fresh, it’s Pop but very current, influenced by Hip Hop and Rap. ‘BUZZ’ is about being in that situation where you have a strong connection with another person and being able to hear the unintentional excitement in their voice whenever they speak. And therefore finding yourself in a dream-like state reeling off all these things you could do for them, all the places you could go together and telling them straight-up that you’ve figured them out and that they don’t need to hide it anymore. It’s a feel good track that I think most people out there can relate to.”
“I’ve got to be creative, to show myself through my music. There are not many British artists making this kind of music. I love taking risks, that’s when you get the best results – and I’m very optimistic, I see good in everything.”
Georgie’s musical life started at the age of 10 when he started teaching himself guitar. Aged 13, he started a band and during this time Georgie quickly picked up drums and singing. He then began writing music for the band until they drifted apart, as the friends moved on after school. But Georgie continued to write music as a solo artist.
2017 was a successful year for Georgie Keller, and with him already making waves in early 2018; we can only expect even bigger things from the young artist throughout his promising career.
