INTERVIEW: David Perry

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Fighting for the Moment”?

It’s a song about my life and the struggles along the way.

It‘s about not giving up on your dream. My son also performs on the song. I am proud to have worked with him and that he is falling into his own in regards to style.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

To be quite honest, my musical journey inspired this song.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes! An animated video has been created and is due for release by March 16th, 2018on youtube! I think the style of the video goes really well with the song.

How was the recording and writing process?

Now that am writing as a solo artist I have found the writing process has been much smoother. Typically I work best late at night. I start with creating the music on an acoustic guitar and then the lyrics follow.  Once I am done with the song I then head for the studio. For the song, “Fighting for the Moment”,  I recorded the song with two other musicians in southern New Jersey. The vocals were done at Architekt Music in Butler, NJ. and everyone was great to work with.

How’s your new album “Rise” coming along?

The album is finished and I have decided to release it early and am already working on my next solo album.

Have you confirmed your album release date?

The album release date is 3/16/2018.

What aspect of love and life will you be exploring on that record?

The entire album is about my life’s journey, struggling and rising up no matter how hard you fall.  There are a couple of songs that are about relationships but none in particular that I would mention.

Any plans to hit the road?

I would love to hit the road this summer and am working out the details as we “speak”.

What else is happening next in David Perry’s world?

I am currently working on new music and getting ready to put together my next album. I have written over 10 songs in the last few months and my next album will have some acoustic versions as well.  I am looking to add some additional sounds to my next album to include a piano and violin as well.
