Following our premiere Tuesday, we are pleased to team up with The Dot and The Line for the new single “Addicted Heart.” The song captures what has made the likes of Portishead and Massive Attack this amazing and even groundbreaking musical acts thanks to its minimalistic approach to music that makes it, ironically, grandiose.
“I love to take in the atmosphere of strangers as they weave past you and on a very busy street, I often think of each human life as a narrative thread,” explains half the duo, Hetty Clark. “Ultimately, I am drawn to the idea of human lives as endless possible narrative entanglements.”
The Dot And The Line is an English musical duo formed in 2017 in LA, consisting of keyboardist, guitarist and programmer Ned Douglas and songwriter / vocalist Hetty Clark. Born from of a shared love of downtempo electronica (Portishead, The XX, Haelos), the pair started writing together to carve out their sound and produce their debut EP. Analog synths, programmed beats and Hetty’s hushed vocals combine to create an evocative blend, both melancholic and cinematic. A soundtrack to your rainy days.
Ned Douglas has worked as programmer and engineer for some of the world’s best artists including Katy Perry, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Star, Mick Jagger and Ke$ha. His songwriting and production work has also been featured in many movies and TV shows.
Hetty Clark loves to find beauty in emotionally charged situations. She tries to draw the contours of relationships through her lyrics because she is interested in the elusiveness of human intimacy.
