Tetrahedra present SOMA, the culmination of their deeply collaborative visual EP, showcasing the work of the avant-garde musicians in cohesion with the visual splendour of dance, film and colourful videography. SOMA is a manifestation of the Melbourne group’s considered brand of art pop in symbiosis with the visual works of different creative directors at the helm of each track, resulting in a 17 minute multifaceted experience for the ears and soul.
Deriving from the Greek word for “body”, SOMA explores the human form in this sonically adventurous final product, all the while considering the deconstruction of ideas pertaining to the body, feminism and the absurd. Created throughout 2017, the EP worked in collaboration with esteemed visual artist Prue Stent, whose credits include commissions for Gucci, Sugar Mountain Festival and Sydney Opera House. Stent’s talents are equally matched by artistic directors Honey Long, Isabella Connelly, music video director Zoe Scoglio and choreographer Natalie Abbott across the final product, which culminates in a continuous flowing work of both music and visuals, shot by Amy Dellar. Honey Long said each track offered a snapshot of the relationship in question. Either perculates over the concerns we have with being at the mercy of another person and their indecisiveness.
