-I’ve been good thanks for asking! How have you been?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Goodbye”?
-Goodbye was never meant to be my first single but I just got locked on with producing it and it all snowballed from there. Usually I tend to jump from song to song, do a little bit here and a little bit there, but I didn’t stop with this track until I was “Finished”.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
-It was inspired by a failed relationship as is a lot of the current tracks that I’m working on. Goodbye pinpoints a memory I have of an Ex literally telling me that they were going to leave me and I stuck around until the last second. I was a fool for love.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
-Definitely! I want pretty much want everything I plan on releasing to be very visually heavy, so yes, there will be a video for ‘Goodbye’.
How was the recording and writing process?
-Long. The song to me will never be finished. I kept tweeking it and tweeking it until it was pretty much taken away from me. I actually gave the track to the distributor and took it back 2 days later to fix parts of it. There is no going back now though.
What role does Ireland play in your writing?
-It actually doesn’t play a huge roll at all.
What is it about the 80s that fascinates you so much?
-If I’m being completely honest, I’m not fascinated by the 80’s at all. I spent a year figuring out my sound and instead of trying to push towards a specific genre, I let everything happen naturally and this was the sound I got.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
-Not an album yet, but I do have a few things in the pipeline that you will all hear about very soon!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
-Yes & No.
Any plans to hit the road?
-Oh yeah. I have lots of plans but no concrete dates to announce just yet.
What else is happening next in HOST’s world?
-Just making as much art as I can everyday and I honestly can’t wait to share the goings on of my brain with the world.
