The Avener has revealed his rework of Bob Dylan’s ‘Masters of War’. The French producer has become renowned for his unique and sultry electronic productions, which bring in elements of blues, jazz, folk and funk.

The original version of ‘Masters of War’ was written by Dylan over the winter of 1962 and 63, and featured on his album ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’. His lyrics refer to a protest against the Cold War nuclear arms build-up of the early 1960s.

The Avener has added his signature style to the track, including subtle electronic production without taking away the essence of Dylan’s original.

The Avener shot to fame in 2014 with his version of ‘Fade Out Lines’ by Phoebe Kildeer. It rocketed to the top of the iTunes chart – first in Germany, and quickly followed by other countries around the world. The following year it had achieved the #1 position in no less than 22 countries.

In 2015, he also released his debut album ‘The Wanderings of The Avener’, which reached #2 in his home country of France, and has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

The Avener is the alias of Tristan Casara. Casara has been a ghost producer of many club hits, and decided to become The Avener when he decided to re-embrace the pleasure of music for its own sake, his early love of piano and melodies, his rich, eclectic, multilayered musical culture and deep house – an antidote to the mechanical chill that has crept into electro over the last few years.

The Avener said: “I am thrilled and honoured to have been able to produce my version of this great song by such a legendary artist as Bob Dylan”

‘Masters of War’ is available to buy/stream from all digital outlets now:
