Robert Earl Thomas Unveils Video For “Cryin'”

Robert Earl Thomas, guitarist of the acclaimed Brooklyn band Widowspeak, has just debuted his solo full-lengthAnother Age on Captured Tracks. He celebrated the release playing to packed houses in New York City andPhiladelphia and will continue on to Boston and Northampton early next month.

Today, Thomas shares the new video for album track “Cryin‘,” in which delicate melancholy follows him from a winding, wooded road to a warmly lonesome hotel room. Another Age’s sweet nostalgia and glowing guitar shines through each shot. Of the single he notes, “‘Cryin’’ isn’t really about crying; or me. It’s about being there for someone you care about. Maybe it’s a little bit about coming home from a party and driving in the middle of the night, and Molly was upset about something I couldn’t really help her with. It was realizing I had to just be listening. In that spirit the song has only a few words I wrote all in one sitting on my friend’s porch in the Catskills. The video was shot in the same general region. The Volvo and the dog are mine and I think they caught an escaped convict at that motel.” Watch here
