Much to the delight of fans, I the Mighty premiered the official video for “Degenerates” today via a Facebook Live event with Alternative Press. “Degenerates” is arguably the most intimate track from the band’s critically-acclaimed 2017 Equal Vision Records full-length Where the Mind Wants to Go / Where You Let it Go, and the video – composed largely of footage of the band on tour between their back-to-back sold out shows at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles – does a great job of translating that introspection. As they follow the carefully finger-picked guitar melody that forms the spine of “Degenerates”, fans are able to experience the band’s live set from the stage, as well as, the other aspects of touring that we don’t often get a chance to see. You can watch the video now on YouTube and make sure to add “Degenerates” to your favorite playlists on Spotify.

The “Degenerates” video comes a few short weeks ahead of the band’s upcoming tour with Our Last Night that will kick off March 8th at Slim’s in I the Mighty’s hometown of San Francisco. The tour will find the band crisscrossing the continental United States  and Canada before culminating back on the west coast with a Los Angeles date at Teragram. I the Mighty have largely built their fanbase from the ground-up through their explosive live show, and this will undoubtedly be a can’t miss event for fans of the band. Full tour dates can be found below and tickets can be purchased here.

San Francisco’s I the Mighty took a bold step forward creatively with the release of their most recent album Where the Mind Wants to Go / Where You Let it Go (Equal Vision Records). Already one of the most progressive voices in alternative rock, Where the Mind Wants to Go / Where You Let it Go sees the band exploring new territory both sonically and topically. It is a collection of nine artistically mature, meticulously crafted rock anthems that sees lead vocalist, Brent Walsh, tackling the topics that have helped shape his own personal growth since the release of their last album; both in terms of life experience and in regards to more abstract topics. Where the Mind Wants to Go / Where You Let it Go is the sort of adrenaline-fueled, kinetic record that creates the perfect balance between experimentalism and the sort of relatable magnetism that is at the core of all the best rock anthems. It taps into a bigger picture that indicates the band is really starting to scratch the surface of what they’re capable as artists. You can stream the record now on YouTube or Spotify and purchase the album through the band’s webstore.

The band has released three diverse offerings from Where the Mind Wants to Go / Where You Let it Go over the past few months. While “Silver Tongues” (featuring Tilian from Dance Gavin Dance) and “Where The Mind Wants To Go” exhibit an elevated take on the brand of rock that the band has built their following on, “Chaos In Motion” sees them dipping into previously uncharted territory with the help of producer Casey Bates (Portugal. The Man) and mix engineer Neal Aaron (Twenty One Pilots, Walk The Moon). The band premiered “Chaos In Motion” via an OCD-trigger video which was picked up by Viral Thread whose post about the track/visual has amassed over 1.3 million plays.
