GRAMMY-award winning icon Carly Simon will join the eclectic line-up for the 31st Annual Tibet House US Benefit Concert on March 3rd at The Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City at 7:30pm ET.
This year’s show will take on a special significance as cultural conversations continue about equality and human rights – issues that the Tibet House US Benefit Concert has brought attention to throughout its 30-year history. The all-female group choir Resistance Revival Chorus, born out of the Women’s March on Washington, will be on hand to deliver a message of female empowerment. The night will also feature esteemed composer and artistic director Philip Glass, genre-bending artist Blood Orange (Dev Hynes), high-voltage, soul-based rock unit St. Paul and the Broken Bones, singer-songwriter and co-founder of the GRAMMY Award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops Rhiannon Giddens, singer-songwriter Angel Olsen, singer-lyricist Stephin Merritt from the band The Magnetic Fields, Tibetan folk and freedom singer Techung and Spanish band Los Vega. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Uma Thurman and Arden Wohl are Honorary Chairpersons.
One of the longest-running and most renowned live cultural events in NYC, this year’s benefit is sure to be an unforgettable evening full of amazing music and one-night-only collaborations – a signature of the show. Proceeds support the work of Tibet House US, a non-profit educational institution and cultural embassy founded in 1987 at the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to ensure the survival of the unique Tibetan civilization.
