GKR Drops lo-fi arctic video for new single

Reykjavík-born rapper GKR shares his first work of 2018, a nocturnal and combative video for “NEI TAKK.” Produced by Ian Boom and released via Fever World, “NEI TAKK” stands for ‘no thanks’ in Icelandic, and on the track GKR brings chaos. Stirred crazy in the midst of winter, GKR grapples with snakes and parties anywhere from barren tundras to aged junkyards. Directed and produced by GKR, watch the video for “NEI TAKK” here.

GKR is putting Nordic hip-hop onto the world stage. Tastemakers, including Noisey, FACT and i-D, caught up with the rapper early in his upward ascension during the release of his self-titled debut GKR EP in 2016, which received widespread acclaim. As a nod to the project’s standout hit “MORGUNMATUR,” which means breakfast, the EP was released in cereal boxes. With nearly 400,000 organic views, the dynamic and colorful video was a vivid introduction to GKR’s whimsical, yet extra cutting edge aesthetics. Since then, the 23-year-old continues to release super cool visuals that showcase his impressive flows and playful vibes, including the high-energy “MEIRA” and the latest “UPP.”
