Following the success of ‘Rich’, Irish electro-pop singer LAOISE is set to release her latest single ‘Bother’, produced by Chris Bubenzer and mastered by Marcin Ciszczon. Hotly-tipped by RTÉ 2FM Radio as a ‘Rising Artist of 2018’, and praised by a multitude of tastemakers in the UK, LAOISE’s second EP is set for release in Spring 2018.

21-year old LAOISE (pronounced Lee-sha) writes dreamy, ambitious and frank pop songs about relationships and heartbreak, often with darker, moodier, more introspective undertones. She dissects her own experiences with an impressive honesty and bravery. Sang through gritted teeth, ‘Bother’ tells the all too familiar tale of a relationship that has turned sour and spiteful. The track presents LAOISE’s stunning, perfectly controlled vocals – soft at first and building as the song reaches its pinnacle, all wrapped up with an infectious chorus and impeccably produced brooding electro-synth beats.

LAOISE explains, “’Bother’ was probably the hardest song I’ve ever written, but also the quickest. I wrote it about a relationship that was ending; it had been over for quite some time actually, and it was bumping into that person a while later that made me write the song. I sat down at the piano and within 20 minutes I had ‘Bother’, and it said all the things I wish I had said a long time ago.

It was a slow piano song for a long time before we worked with the amazing producer, Chris Bubenzer, and he really helped transform this track into the confident electro-pop track that you hear now. ‘Bother’ feels like a massive cleanse for me, and I especially can’t wait to perform it live.”

Originally from Galway in Ireland, LAOISE grew up surrounded by traditional Irish music – another world away from the electro-pop sound she now commands. Having learnt to play the fiddle at the age of 5, she would regularly attend traditional Irish sessions at her local Galway pub, and it was this sense of togetherness through music that made her want to pursue being a musician as a career.

Taking her cues from the silky production of acts like NAOMelanie Martinez and Skott and incorporating elements of synth, indie and alternative – LAOISE’s music is deeply inspired by household names like Kate Bush and David Bowie, as well as the different musical personas of Taylor Swift.

Drawing from her combined influences, LAOISE thrives on being able to experiment with her music and the characters, concepts and emotions she’s able to portray with each release. She has created her own brand of glittering yet gritty electro-pop that she presents to us today.
