Swedish artist and producer Adée shares her exciting new single ‘Wasted On You’, released on 2nd February via Swedish label, Musichelp.
Already well established in the Swedish urban music scene, Adée started playing flute at the age of nine, but classical musical wasn’t part of her future plan. Six years later at 15, she started focusing on singing and rap – a talent pushed further by an inspiring teacher and a strong backing from her family.
Pinpointing Adée’s sound is a fascinating one. She triumphantly flickers between soul, hip-hop and pop, combining genres in a modern and creative way, drawing comparisons to JillScott, LaurynHill, Erykah Badu, Iggy Azalea and Swedish rap star, Cleo.
In 2013, Adée released her debut EP ‘One Step Closer’, which led to a performance for the Swedish royal couple, followed by a successful US tour.
In spring 2014, Adée released ‘Woman’, taken from her ‘Honesty’ EP. A strong advocate for women’s rights, it was the official anthem song for the Worlds largest political conference on gender equality. A song about domestic violence and a tribute to women, it is bravely expressive and truly heartfelt; a running theme throughout Adée’s music.
Following this, Adée received the Best Single of 2015 nomination at the Scandinavian Soul Awards for her song ‘World On Fire’, as well as a nomination for Artist of the Year.
During summer 2016, she toured intensively in Sweden and abroad – including shows at SXSW, CanadianMusicWeek, Midemin Cannes and CMJ MusicMarathon – and in that September released her debut album ‘Addicted’.
She visited New York shortly after to record new music with hyped producer JKey (Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dog, Jay Z) and work with top writers Justin Baron and Jonathan Waxma.
The result is ‘Wasted On You’, the first song of a series of songs leading up to her upcoming EP – one that goes closer to pop then Adée has previously ever done. Listen here.
