Oliver Hazard are an indie folk trio from Waterville, Ohio. Mike Belazis, Griffin McCulloch, and Devin East are old friends playing music together for little more than the hell of it. Last year, the group won a fortuitously timed Facebook raffle for one song’s worth of studio time. Instead of spending their unexpected prize on one track, Oliver Hazard played ten original songs straight through live, creating what FADER calls “a folk-pop masterpiece.”
Today, the budding band premieres “Hey Louise” at Uproxx, telling the blog “Everyone has that one relationship that comes in and out of their life. ‘Hey Louise’ is a song about that young kind of relationship and the pain that goes along with it; the pain of fading enamorment, getting older, and the questions you ask yourself down the line.” Read the full piece here.
There’s an unfiltered grit to Oliver Hazard’s songs, the sound of small towns and the vibrant souls that stir them. The band is rapidly earning repute for this Midwestern empathy, illustrated in their “Welcome To Waterville” mini-doc video. With the release of only one single to date, Oliver Hazard have secured slots at Bonnaroo and Mountain Jam. These and more tour dates detailed below.
