Yes! LNTAi is my second single. It’s a dark, pop vibe that dives into some real experiences that I’ve had over the last couple years. I like to say that it’s a great song to drive to, workout to, or just chill to!
Did any event inspire you to write this song?
The song was definitely inspired by real events. It was a joint idea between my cowriter and I, but it felt very real for me at the time. I think anyone who has ever stayed in a bad relationship or situation for too long can relate to the story in this song.
Any plans to release a video for the track?
Right now I’m working on video content for a lot of things, but there is no official music video set to come out for this one yet!
How was the recording and writing process?
So for this song, we did a lot of the recording the same night we wrote it. The song started with just a piano vocal, and then we built the track from there. I think the lyrics came out very honest and delicate because we didn’t rely on a full track from the beginning.
What role does Nashville play in your writing?
Nashville is a HUGE influence on my writing. In Nashville, the song always comes first. The story, melody and honesty of your song is more important than your track or your attempt to be trendy. Also, since I’m a songwriting major in college, I rely heavily on things that I have learned from seasoned writers that now teach at my school, which is awesome.
How has Taylor Swift and Fleetwood Mac influenced your music?
Oh man this is a loaded question. Listening to Fleetwood Mac is one of my earliest musical memories. My parents had amazing music taste and we were always listening around the house, and one of my first ever performances was me singing Landslide with a family friend of ours who had a band. As I got older and started to make my own musical decisions, I fell in love with Taylor. I was a superfan in grade school and she is the reason I started playing guitar and writing songs. I always pictured myself growing up and becoming a country singer like her. Obviously, that plan evolved but I still credit Taylor with a large amount of how I craft lyric and melody.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
YES. I have so many awesome things in the works and I am so excited to continue releasing music. The next release isn’t announced yet, but I cannot wait for people to hear it and I’m so thankful for all of the people who have been following my journey as an artist.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Right now, I’m not ready to give a date but I promise there will be plenty of content coming out soon!
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes. My band and I are rehearsing and there will definitely be opportunities to see me live very soon!
What else is happening next in Katie MAC´s world?
Well, I’m still a college student, so I’m trying to balance my artist career with being a student. I’m also writing every day, rehearsing, and trying to make the best possible content I can for the people who listen!
