Austin designer RBennett & Co. outfits Grammy-nominated band Midland for 60th Annual Grammy Awards

Austin-based custom suiting business RBennett & Co. designed a hand-tailored suit for Grammy-nominated band Midland at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in New York City this past Sunday night. Midland was nominated for two Grammys (Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance). Cameron Duddy, the bass player of the band, rocked a white suit on the Grammy red carpet that was designed by Bennett, with embroidery commissioned by local Austin company, Ft. Lonesome. The band was described as having a “coordinated look that was completely on-theme, unique, and authentic,” by Vogue Magazine (for more information, see here).

“I’m so grateful that this opportunity manifested itself,” said RBennett & Co. Founder, Ross Bennett. “It was just a matter of everyone involved not taking ‘no’ for an answer, putting in nights and weekends, and making it come to life. We custom built and embroidered this suit in twelve days.”

GQ Magazine also published a photo of the band and Bennett’s suit on their Instagram page, which can be seen here.

RBennett & Co. was founded by University of Texas alum Ross Pace Bennett in 2008. Ross grew up in north Dallas and moved to Austin in 2002 to attend The University of Texas in pursuit of a fashion design degree. After graduation, Bennett set up shop in a garage, where he began making couture women’s clothing. In 2012, Ross designed uniforms for the Circuit of the America girls at the first Austin F1 race. That same year, NBC asked Ross to be on their show Fashion Star, which he won. After years of working out of his garage, Bennett opened his first brick and mortar store in downtown Austin, before moving to a unique little space at 8th St. and Congress.

In the last year, RBennett & Co. began to gain momentum and two new partners, Dan Dillard and Rick Ravenscraft (CEO and COO, respectively), came on board to help grow Ross’ company to a whole new level.

Recently, Bennett has re-focused his energy on a men’s clothing line. To learn more about Bennett and the company, see
