Home / Music / Artist Interviews / INTERVIEW: Mo Pitney

Hi Mo, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been doing well, thank you!

Can you talk to us more about your song “Boy and A Girl Thing”?

This is the song I got to write with Don Sampson… The song is really just about the Way we see the progression of two little kids falling in love and growing old together! Or at least the way we all wish it would happen..

Did any event inspire you to write this song?

It actually came about in the moment… I booked a writing appointment with Don and we just kinda had a epiphany halfway through the morning…

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

It was really fun!!I think everyone really enjoyed both a little actors in the way they played the part so well!

The single comes off your new album Behind This Guitar – what’s the story behind the title?

That’s actually a song I didn’t write… I recorded it because I thought it best explained why I do what I do ..

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing process in general is always happening… Whether I’m doing it with others or by myself song ideas and songs themselves just always trickle in…Picking the ones you want to put on the record seems to be the tough part in this case I just found the best 12 I thought went together… Recording was great! I got to record with Tony Brown who is someone I really looked up to and I learned a lot as he brought the band together and tried to pull as much out of me the artist as he could…

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Really it just came from all I had experienced up until the time I move to Nashville and shortly there after… I hadn’t written songs before I moved to Nashville so I wanted to document my life up until that point…

Any plans to hit the road?

We’ve been on the road quite a bit! Plan to continue.

What else is happening next in Mo Pitney´s world?

We’re hoping that the new record shows itself within the next three months!
