Berkshire singer/songwriter James Neilson is crowned National contest Open Mic UK 2017 Champion!

We are thrilled to announce that singer/songwriter James Neilson from Wokingham has beaten 10,000 other applicants and won at the Grand Final last weekend for Open Mic UK 2017!

This took place at the Birmingham NEC last Saturday in front of a capacity crowd with his original song ‘Ma Chere’ and won over the competition judges (which consisted of record label representatives from Sony, Universal, Syco Entertainment, Modest Management, and Future Music)

James has been playing instruments from a young age, and after being in previous bands as a drummer he went solo 2 years ago. Having already drummed up previous success with his single ‘Already Gone’, 2018 kicks off as a massive year for the singer!

Previous winners and participants for Open Mic UK have included Jacob Banks, Lucy Spraggan, Union J’s Jaymi Hensley, Luke Friend, and Warner Music’s superstar Birdy.
