CUT CHEMIST PREMIERES “METALSTORM”

Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) has directed and premiered “Metalstorm (ft. Edan and Lif)” the third track from Die Cut, the long-awaited follow up to The Audience’s Listening. The new track, which serves as a follow up to Cut Chemist’s 2006 release “Storm,” premiered yesterday on MXDWNCLICK HERE to listen.

“It’s the first song on the album, so it picks up where The Audience’s Listening left off. Cut Chemist told MXDWN. “It certainly gives you something familiar to wet the palette as you dive into this new world of Cut Chemist.”

Cut Chemist will also be playing a series of shows in support of Die Cut, as well as an appearance at SXSW ’18 in Austin, Texas.Announced dates can be found here:

Die Cut, which features appearances by Deantoni Parks (The Mars Volta), Biz Markie, actress Erika Christensen (Parenthood), tune-yards, Farmer Dave Scher, Dexter Story, and more, serves as a natural progression from his now classic 2006 debut.

Now, Die Cut signals the start of a new era for Cut Chemist. It’s a rebirth he’s earned.

“This is the death of a musical identity and the birth of another,” Lucas MacFadden insists. “It isn’t just the cut-and-paste style anymore. I’m collaborating with more musicians and sampling less. This is different. The content is emotionally heavier, even though it’s still fun. It harks back to the energy you can share with live musicians rather than being a DJ alone on stage. I wanted to capture that with this style of music.”
