INTERVIEW: Denny White

Hi Denny, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great! The last few weeks I’ve been traveling a bit, taking advantage of the winter break and am currently in Nashville on a writing trip with some amazing people.

Can you talk to us more about your song “Torn Up”?

It’s the first of many I’ll be releasing this year, and one of the first tunes out of this new batch that really helped define the sonics and production.

Did any event inspire you to write this song?

I wrote this one late last spring a few months before my daughter was born, and is really about being vulnerable about being held together by those closest to you.

Any plans to release a video for the track?

Yea, I did a video with this really talented director David Orgill, and will be releasing it within the next couple weeks!

How was the recording and writing process?

It was pretty quick, I wrote it and produced a majority of it in one day, then spent a month or so mixing, and fine tuning the sounds.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?

Not really, my focus is always the same, trying to find an interesting melody with a great concept.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

Definitely! I’m constantly writing, but I have the next 5 songs finished, and will be releasing them one at a time this year.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

My next single is called “Alone with You” and will be out late February!
