Kicking off not only a premiere week, but a year overall – Extravision’s new single, “Moments of Clarity”, is just a sneak peek into the awesomeness you can expect moving forward both on the artist career as well as this magazine too. The music has this sweet classic textures, with the haunting vocals that resonates through your speaker as if they came from otherworld.
Extravision is the solo and collaborative music project of Des Moines, IA resident Ryan Stier (The River Monks, Annalibera). Blending sparkling 12-string guitar, synthesized drone loops, drum machines, and warm electric guitar, Stier lays a meditational bed for dynamic stream of consciousness lyrics focused on death, overcoming fears, and beautiful simplicities.
Extravision is an intentionally malleable music project. The project was originally conceived as a psychedelic rock band influenced by groups like Steve Miller Band and The War On Drugs, and has appeared as a washy, synth-heavy psychfolk trio. You may see Stier performing solo meditational folk songs in DIY settings such as living rooms, sanctuaries, candlelit magic stone shops and art galleries.
Extravision’s debut full-length Waking Up will be out on vinyl, CD and digital download on February 16th. Stier had this to say about the album:
The album was written over the course of a few years. As I listen to the album now, it’s beginning to feel cyclical in many ways. Like I’m re-learning some of the same stuff 3 years later, in different and more refined ways. It’s reassuring to realize I will never stop waking up to who I am and how I can better fit into this strange puzzle of life.
