Equal Vision Records band Picturesque has returned with their melancholy and devastatingly beautiful track “Honestly.”
The song chronicles lead singer Kyle Hollis’ experiences growing up in a destructive household, specifically dealing with his mother’s substance abuse. The video is simplistically shot, with its shifting lighting bringing to life the shadows lurking within Hollis as he addresses his mother in a cathartic scream:
“Queen of the night, you didn’t so much as think twice. Was this all just out of spite? While you’re drowning your liver, suffocating your lungs – life could have ended before it begun. Worse comes to worst, well, you’re the worst excuse for a mother I’ve ever heard.”
