For the second consecutive year, Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood scored two awards each at last night’s Rare Country Awards concert event. Blake won “Male Artist” and “Fan Moment of the Year;” with Carrie taking home “Female Artist” and a win for her collaboration with Reba McEntire for “Grand Ole Opry® Moment of the Year.” The concert is available for viewing at RareCountryAwards.com.
Hosted by The New 93Q Houston’s Christi Brooks and Y100 San Antonio’s JR Jaus, the Rare Country Awards concert event featured performances by Kane Brown, LANCO and RaeLynn, with appearances by Blake, Carrie, Reba and Luke Bryan – winner of “Tour of the Year” (hyperlinks to each acceptance video are included above). Additional winners included Brett Young for “New Artist,” Little Big Town for “Duo/Group” and Thomas Rhett for “Story of the Year.”
Before two-time nominee Kane Brown took the stage with the night’s closing performance, he received Rare Country’s “Duet of the Year” for the song “What Ifs,” with childhood friend Lauren Alaina. Kane was the recipient of Rare Country’s “New Artist” award last year.
“Fan Moment of the Year” winner Blake Shelton said, “I’ve never won anything like this, but I gotta say, that award belongs to fan Daisy Prescott, because she is the star, and anybody would want to have a chance to meet her. I love that little girl, and thank you to all the fans that voted for me, but that’s Daisy’s award.” Seven year-old Daisy was present at the concert alongside Christi and JR and gleefully accepted the award on Blake’s behalf.
