We’ve been good! Just busy finishing our album and making some videos.
Can you talk to us more about your new single “Mental Karate”?
Sure, Mental Karate is a song we recorded and shot within the last couple months. The video is directed by Jocelyn Cooper.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I think I was just walking down the street and catching a bunch of bad thoughts floating through my brain. Like, “I am not good enough.” The thought was hovering there for a while and I was able to picture the thought as an image and give it a chop. In my head I told myself I was doing mental karate- and that got me started on the song.
How was the recording and writing process?
Pretty simple. We just tried to catch some lyrics as fast I could and write them down in my phone. For the recording, we just tried to make it thump!!
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
It was fun! We did a day shoot with Jocelyn Cooper and her team. We all showed up in these Karate suits and got to do pretend Karate all day.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
We do have a finished album!! We don’t know exactly when we’ll release it. Potentially this spring.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
March or April!
Any plans to hit the road?
Hopefully we will this summer!!
What else is happening next in Thumpasaurus’ world?
We have an upcoming show at the Echo in Los Angeles on January 5th at Midnight!
