Alex Riddle has just premiered his new single titled “Hosting Ghosts” over on Huffington Post. The single will be featured on Riddle’s forthcoming 7” and digital EP releases, due out in early 2018. Huffington Post called the track a “powerfully intimate homage to possession and the people that come into our lives.” Fans can listen to the song here.
“The song is about possession,” says Riddle about “Hosting Ghosts.” “More Casper, less Exorcist, but it’s like you’ve invited the spirit in and sat him at your kitchen table, and now he’s giving you drawn-out elliptical advice on what to do with your desires and failures, little of which seems at all actionable.”
Alex Riddle’s unique approach to songwriting and composition—as well as his prodigious talent as a vocalist and guitarist—have Riddle poised to carve out a spot in the ever-changing indie rock pantheon. While his affinity for exploration and experimentation leads often to stranger territories, Riddle takes great care to make sure that his work maintains its emotional immediacy and directness, which in turn keeps it accessible. Still, his fundamental musical goal is cathartic in nature. “I want the listener to feel that something dramatic is happening, that something is at stake,” said Riddle in an early interview with Houston Press. “I’m not interested in easy listening.”
Early 2018 will see the release of Alex Riddle’s new 7” and subsequent digital EP, the follow up to 2016’s “Happy Daggers” EP. To stay current on all things Alex Riddle be sure to follow him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and his official site.
