Emerging Compton Rapper Shooby Drops New Single “S.O.M.E.”

Keeping up a Compton, California, hometown tradition of hip-hop, Shooby released his new single “S.O.M.E.” (Explicit) today, Friday, December 1, via The Nominees/Sludge Records. The song is available on all major digital retail outlets including iTunes (here), and available to stream on SoundCloud (here), and Spotify (here).

“S.O.M.E.” was produced by artist/producer HNNBL [“Trust” ft. Miles Wesley]. The track slips from head-turning verses into a hypnotic hook that blurs the lines between rap and alternative R&B. It’s the perfect introduction to the MC’s inimitable and irresistible style, and hints at a lot more to come.

Of the song, he commented, “It’s about me dealing with my real-life situations and thinking of where I was, compared to where I am now. I already had a studio session lined up with HNNBL, and ‘S.O.M.E.’ is the result of that session.”

You could call music Shooby’s destiny. Born and raised in Compton, his aunt nicknamed him after one of the Ohio Players. He went from focusing on sports in high school to eventually picking up a mic.

Now he tells honest stories of family and the streets on record. Be on the lookout for his full-length debut soon.
