Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
We’ve been keeping busy, lots going on behind the scenes
Can you talk to us more about your new single “Suicidal Thoughts”?
Suicidal Thoughts is a single taken from our album ‘Face Value.’ coming February 16th 2018. It’s a dark emotive track that’ll give you a small taste of what’s to come
Did any event inspire you to write this song?
Just in terms of real-life experiences that people have had and what they’ve have been through.
How was the film experience?
The filming experience for this particular video was easy as its mostly metaphorical, someone digging their own grave. We found an empty part of the woods that had a great background and just went from there. Apart from two cyclists that went straight in front of the camera in the last 30 seconds of the song it when pretty smooth. We have worked with Luke Medlock before he just makes the whole recording process easy, he knows the best places to film and just the easiest guy to work with.
The single comes off your new album Face Value – what’s the story behind the title?
It’s just the expression ‘Face Value.’ You can either take things as you see them at face value what they mean to you or there may be a deeper underlining meaning to be discovered.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording and writing process was very laid back, I (Sam) wrote the initial bones of the track Nath fleshed them out adding drums and Luke ironed everything else from a listeners perspective and then added vocals. In terms of recording, we spent roughly a week and a half with our friends Tom and Ant at Riff Factory. Everyone put so much energy into the piece and it really shows.
How has Black Flag and Slipknot influenced your writing?
Nath has always been a huge Slipknot fan from a young age, learning the drums he really took the Joey Jordison style and added it to his own. Black flag was more of an influence in terms of live performance Luke is known for frequently being among the crowd, no two shows are the same.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
Mostly from taking real-life experiences and turning that into something everyone can relate to while fitting with the song
Any plans to hit the road?
Planning on doing some kind of UK tour after the album, really want to play shows in mainland Europe this year as well hopefully
What else is happening next in Of Legions´ world?
Touring mostly, after the album launch.
