In the vein of The Smith and The Dandy Warhols, The Pxrtals are back with their psychedelic music video for “Dawn Of A Global Community.”
About the song, the comments
The consolidated idea for “Dawn” was to explore the streets/art of the global community exemplar of NYC/Brooklyn at the turn of spring, with the blooming of the cherry blossoms harmonizing the potential for an analogous rebirth within humanity.
The video does bear an uncannily strong resemblance to the classic alternative rock videos from Canada’s Much Music TV station, which we grew up on. The song particularly beckons echoes of Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip’s impassioned musicianship, which gives the song even greater significance given Gord’s recent passing, and the wealth of love and goodwill which Canadians, and people all over, are sharing in this time.
