Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Good cheers, there’s no better time of year than that pre-Christmas bit where everyone’s moaning that it’s too early to put up your tree and debating about whether the John Lewis advert is cute or not.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Snifter”?
It’s one of our favourite tunes to play live as it’s perfect for going mental at the end of a set, so it seemed like the logical next tune to release. It has that comic book kinda feel as well so we knew we could have fun with it visually.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
It’s actually just a re-telling of a certain night out where we got into a bit of trouble. You need to get in these situations sometimes though otherwise you may aswell work in a call centre and not be in a band.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
We filmed it with our boy Victor Kovachev and love how it came out. We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted so the shoot was actually pretty simple and done over a few hours. The key was to just have fun and make something people will sit and enjoy rather than just something cool and washy with no concept.
The single comes off your new album White Stilettos – what’s the story behind the title?
Well it’s from the whole Essex stereotype, we wanted to flip that so it wasn’t a diss. It’s just about doing your own thing in all different aspects of life be it work or fashion. The white stilettos also reference a pair of classics, all the girls and the boys can strap them on and join the movement.
How was the recording and writing process?
Writing wise we’re pretty calm as we all have our different parts that we play in that process. It’s all quite natural. In the studio you have to be a bit more sensible and get your head down. We got through it though and now we’ve got a flipping record mate, which is quite funny when you step back and take it in.
What aspect of boys’ lifestyle are you exploring on this record?
It’s really just songs about normal people doing normal things. Getting up hungover and having a pint to ease yourself into the day, telling someone to feck off because they don’t like your hair, annoying your Mrs. We just wanted to introduce ourselves to whoever listens in the most legit way we could.
What else is happening next in Rosko’s world
Expect alot more shows next year all over the gaff, plus we’re about to get back in the studio for the next project.
We’ve got a few top secret remixes coming out aswell so we’re working man!
Our next gig is at the Monarch in Camden on December 21st so if you like what we do, get your santa hats on and come shake a leg. Bless
