Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Bryan – Magnificent.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Ride The Tide”? Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Melissa – It started as a fun instrumental jam.

B- I felt like it had a surfy, psychedelic sound and that inspired the ocean theme to the lyrics. It’s about the waves of life, the ups and downs.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

M- It was awesome to have another artist create the video. We let the talented cartoonist, Magnificent Kaaboom have fun with just a little suggestions and direction from us.

How was the recording and writing process?

M- Bryan and I co-write our music, this particle song’s lyrics were written by Bryan. I created the bass line, Bryan the guitar, drums and sound effects. We work together in arranging the music. Bryan also is our recording engineer, we did the song (and album) in our home studio.

B- The intro and outro of the music video I added the effects after Kaaboom finished the cartoon. He had added the extra scenes, so I created the music / sounds to go with his work. That was a fun and unique experience for me.

What role does Portland plays in your music?

B- We are both Portland Natives. I was born and raised here and have been in various bands, writing music just about my whole life. I’m inspired by the local acts here and national acts that come through town.

M- I agree that we live in an inspiring city and the wet long winter is great for writing. But Bryan and I’s happy place is being on the road playing music.

Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

M- Album is out now! Ride the Tide is a single off our new album “Where Did They Come From”.

B- We have links to stream, download or buy physical copies on our website,

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

M- We have new music to put out soon… Have a few concepts we are toying with.

B- We should have some new releases after this winter’s recording session.

Any plans to hit the road?

M- Yes! Spring 2018 tour.

B- Yeah, we are so excited to get back on the road again. We usually tour in the fall, but are shifting to Spring, so it has felt weird to not be on the road right now.

What else is happening next in When We Met’s world?

B- We have a couple gigs in Portland before we take the winter to record new material in the studio. Our next show we will be joined by a special guest on drums at a historical club that is closing down soon. Then we will have a holiday show to finish the year.

M- That, and the prep for spring tour.

Thank you! ~WWM
