Darlingside release first single ‘Eschaton’ today

ACCLAIMED ALT-FOLK QUARTET DARLINGSIDE EXPAND THEIR MUSICAL PALETTE AND RELEASE THE FIRST SINGLE ‘ESCHATON’ ON 17th NOVEMBER FROM THEIR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED 2018 NEW ALBUM ‘EXTRALIFE’. LISTEN HERE

Extralife will be the follow up to the band’s 2016 European breakthrough debut release, the highly praised ‘Birds Say’.  The band had a meteoric live success story in the UK with three sold out tours  of ‘Bird’s Say’.   The unique live performances of this band brought instant adoring fans and sold out dates on each tour from the unexpected  2016 mainstage performance at Cambridge Folk Festival  through to the Summer of 2017 with a TV performance live from GLASTONBURY on BBC 2 TV and a sold out triumphant and stunning London UNION CHAPEL show which garnered rave reviews along with 4*Times review.

Where Birds Say was steeped in childhood nostalgia and the loss of innocence, Extralife finds Darlingside looking to the future, mourning the loss of our world with an almost post-apocalyptic view. While the subject matter may seem bleak, Extralife is not without an underlying sense of hope and optimism.  Eschaton  leads the way to the new album set for release worldwide on February 23rd and the band will launch the record at an intimate show on January 30th 2018 at the Courtyard Theatre –

At the core of Extralife the deepest questions remain; does anything we do matter or make a difference? Are we resigned to fate or are we able to change the future? The Members of Darlingside – Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner, and David Senft – believe that we can and we must.    ‘Eschaton’ leads the way – listen here :

LIVE DATES

LYRICS – ESCHATON

You, me, the Young Turks by the BU Bridge
All of the lines are fixed

We need to remember what happens, if
We don’t write it who will?

Time, look at the time
And what we used to be
Signs, what are the signs?
Nobody here still reads

I hear the eschaton
I see our stripes on floating ground
No matter what we’ve been, we are the upshot now

They’re making martyrs out of tennis stars
Did you think they were ours?

There’s something in the water, byzantine
And everyone’s downstream

Time, they own all the time
And what we used to be
Signs, look at the signs
Tell me what you believe

I hear the eschaton
I see our stripes on floating ground
No matter what we’ve been, we are the upshot now
