Ardyn round out 2017 with the release of new single “Bloom” and an EP of the same name collating previous singles “Life Happens,” “Throwing Stones” and “Together.”
Ardyn’s output conjures otherworldly feelings of escapism, their very name a homage to the sibling’s aunt whose house and garden they spent much of their childhood in, one that reads like an Alice in Wonderland world of hidden rooms, treehouse’s and exotic pets. Bloom takes its influence from much of that childhood magic, the never-ending search of an almost transcendental paradise where they can retreat. On previous single “Throwing Stones,” Katy talked of the alienated feelings towards global politics and societal volatility – “Bloom” is the band yearning of a utopian sanctuary not unlike that of their childhood in the face of what we’re seeing in the world today.
