Great thanks, currently very happy with everything going on around the single.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Hold On”?
It’s my debut release and it premiered over on CLASH a couple weeks ago. It’s out now and available to stream on Spotify etc.!
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Not any particular event. Its about the hardships of a relationship and the anxiety that can come from that. Musically I wanted to try and portray that west coast vibe. Having it sound mellow and chilled and get people to really feel that was something I wanted to do with this song.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Not for this one unfortunately!
How was the recording and writing process?
Very straightforward acutally. The first version I done in my room came together really quickly. It changed quite a bit when I done the final version with Mark Morrow because we added a lot of parts in, but that was cool.
How has CA influenced your writing?
It had such a massive influence on what I wanted to sound like as an artist, not just with these songs. Trying to get people to feel the whole vibe around CA with these songs was really what I wanted to do. It took me a long time to try and pin down what I wanted this project to sound like and that experience really gave it a purpose.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
Definitely not yet, more singles to come though.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
I’ll have something new out reasonably early next year!
Any plans to hit the road?
Not yet, hopefully soon though.
What else is happening next in OAKLND’s world?
Loads of writing still and more recording. I want to be able to put a few things out in reasonably quick succession so I’m working on being able to do that! Thank you for your time, Colin.
