INTERVIEW: Beth Noble
How would you classify your music?
I would classify my music as Country/Rock/Pop.
Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?
My top five musical influences are Taylor Swift, Loretta Lynn, Chris Stapleton, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash.
What do you want fans to take from your music?
I want my fans to take away positivity from my music, mainly. A sense that everything is going to be alright, even when things go wrong. I hope they also take away a connection with the words, they they feel like I’m singing about something they have also been through.
How’s the music scene in your locale?
The music scene is great in Austin! It’s the music capitol of the world! You can go out any night and hear a different band, but I guess that makes it a little more difficult to get gigs when there are so many musicians to choose from.
What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?
The best concert I went to was for Twenty One Pilots, their energy is amazing. Which is what I love most about playing live, the energy. If people are having a good time, that feeds into your playing, and it makes everything ten times better musically. Nothing feels better than a crowd really getting into your performance.
Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?
My favorite song on my E.P. is “God Has A Plan”. I love the instruments on it, like the mandolin and the banjo, but also it’s my life motto, that God does have a plan. I know, for me, I can get caught up in worrying about all the things that need to be done, or aren’t going right, but I know that everything has a purpose and with God nothing is off, and nothing happens that shouldn’t. That thought just sets me at ease, as does the song.
How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?
Well a year ago I had no band, no E.P., I couldn’t play guitar, no gigs were lined out, I basically was starting at zero. I just had a few songs recorded on my phone that I played (horribly) on a keyboard. Since then I have a great band, I have an E.P. out, I have a consistent stream of gigs that pop up, and I am actually number 1 on the Reverbnation charts for country in Austin, TX, which is pretty cool! I’ve learned how to play guitar, so as I write new songs, it’s easier to describe the sound I want. I feel like this whole year has just been one big growth from absolutely nothing, to getting something good going, hopefully.
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?
Definitely Elvis Presley, and I would bring my dad because he absolutely loves him. Elvis just had that natural performer in him, and even as a young girl I loved his music, so it would be awesome to meet him.
What’s next for you?
Next, I will be playing more gigs around Texas, and starting to record new music! So I’m really excited for the future.
