Dahlstrøm returned to Autumn this year with ‘anymore.’ and ‘Where The Flowers Grow’ the first few releases from her upcoming project, ‘Nine’. Following the great success of the late 2016 EP release ‘0.0’ (includes the Tom Misch produced single, ‘One More Reason’), these two singles highlight the essence of the upcoming EP that emphatically springs on Marie’s fondness for jazz and soul. Marie was welcomed warmly to this year having garnered tastemaker support from The Line Of Best Fit and Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlists, who championed this widely. LISTEN HERE
Marie’s upcoming project is about aligning memories, lessons and experiences. The EP is called ’Nine’ to reflect the beginning of a new era, as shown in numerology.. 2016 resonated to a Universal ‘9’ Year in numerology (2+0+1+6=9), the number of completion & endings, which is also Marie’s personal birth number 27th May (2+7=9). The exciting project from Dahlstrøm was recorded with live instrumentation, from Marie’s home piano to analogue synthesizers and drum beats – showcasing Marie’s love for congas, which she plays on ‘Before Then‘ and ‘Maybe, One Day’.
‘Nine’ effortlessly places Marie’s personality to the forefront and the level of involvement, self-producing and composing a majority of the project bejewelled with a rare authenticity and personality. ‘Nine’ is a piece of mind bonds themes in numerology, life experiences and acceptance.
Now with a sold-outheadline show at Servant Jazz Quarters in December to draw the exciting year to a close and the EP release penned in for a release on 27th October, ‘Nine’ is both a start and end of an exciting chapter for Marie.
