How have you been?
I am doing great, super excited about my new single. I’ve been waiting to release my first single and the day has finally come. The reaction has been great and I can’t wait to get out and play some shows.
Can you talk to us more about your single “We’re Done”?
My first single “We’re Done” is of course your typical break-up song. I wrote this song when I was 16, just after a break up.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I had a few relationships before, but this particular relationship was heavy. The break up was really hard for me to handle at the time, since my parents had just announced there separation a week before hand. The way it was handled was sort of weird and unofficial. It seemed like he wanted to keep me around just incase, or maybe he just wasn’t sure what he wanted. So to sort my feelings out I wrote a song. It was my way of ending the relationship myself. “Now we’re done, now we’re through”.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
I have a lyric video I plan to release in the next week or so!
How was the writing and recording process for the song?
The process of writing the song was such a release for me. It took a few weeks to finish up but once I was done I truly felt closure. Writing is a wonderful way to sort out my feelings. After writing the song, I literally tracked my vocals in a couple of hours and it was finished.
What role does Texas play in your writing?
Texas has a rich history of music. Hillary Duff, Demi Lovato, Janis Joplin, George Strait, and Roy Orbison. The list goes on. I hope to make a mark in Texas and beyond.
Does acting influence your writing and the other way around?
As many actors know from experience, listening to music can help you. I think acting and music goes hand in hand. Both feed off emotion. It’s a balancing act.
