Inara George unveiled the music video for “Young Adult,” the latest single from her upcoming solo album Dearest Everybody, out January 19, 2018 on Release Me Records. Directed by Jeremy Cohen, the video accompanies “Young Adult’s” soaring, whimsical melodies, capturing the childlike wonder that occasionally pierces everyday routine to inspire bursts of nostalgic optimism and reflections of life’s more astonishing, unimaginable aspects. “I wanted the video to try and capture that feeling when life straddles the mundane and the otherworldly,” shares Inara. “So much of what we think and do in one day is the same thing that we thought and did in the thousands of days prior. But, sometimes, something happens that reminds us of who we were when we were a child, that there are volcanos exploding all over the planet, that we are standing on an enormous orb that is just spinning in space, or that we live in a very complex and scary world where so many people are suffering in ways that are unimaginable.”
Inspired by loss and the transformative potential of grief, “Young Adult” and Dearest Everybody, produced by Mike Andrews, follow her previous 2009 solo album Accidental Experimental, which has amassed over 730k Spotify streams. Inara, of the Bird and the Bee (her collaboration with Grammy-winning producer, singer, and instrumentalist Greg Kurstin) and the Living Sisters fame, recently was featured on Foo Fighter’s “Dirty Water” and Superfruit’s “Everything,” which she co wrote for their debut album Future Friends. This summer, Inara also performed alongside that dog. at Riotfest and duetted with Shirley Manson and Garbage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
