Hi Ajia, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great, so exicted right now my single Real Love it Out and I’m getting good vibes.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Real Love”?

Real Love is the first Single off my EP Visions it has more of an old-school soul vibe. The song is based on a situation I went through this year.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Some people think that the song Real love is about a boy. The song is actually based on my relationship with my best friend at the time while we were on the verge of falling out. The song is based on how I was feeling at the time as I felt I was only her friend when she needed someone and it was convenient for her. The way she was behaving at the time wasn’t the way I felt a best friend should behave. It was my point of view of how our relationship was at that time.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

At the moment I just focused on the release of my EP but hopefully sometime in the near future I will release a video.

How was the recording and writing process?

The recording process was really chilled as I work really  well with my producer Ryan price and he gets my style. Generally writing songs come easy to as I’ve been doing it for a while now. However I did struggle at the beginning of writing real love as I was trying sugar coat the situationt. The moment I released I had to be completely honest with myself to write this song; the words just flew onto the page.

What role does the UK play in your writing?

The Uk is where I grew up and where I live and I write about my experiences and  what I see and that’s all from growing up in the UK.  In the UK we also have a distinctive sound  like house music, garage  etc and it has definitely influenced me growing up.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else than when you are writing in your own?

When I’m writing on my own I tend to lock myself in  quite room by myself and put headphones on. When I’m collobrating I kind of just vibe of the person I’m working with.

Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

Yes, my EP visions will be coming out later this year and I’m so exited Its been amazing just being in the studio and writing. Its got a very chilled vibe to it and its just me speaking on life.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Visions is the name of my EP coming out later this year and so excited for the world hear my music.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes, I’m super excited  now that my single visions is out I plan to be doing live performaces and showcasing my talent to the world.

What else is happening next in Ajia’s world?

Ep visuions will be coming out and at the moment I’m just keeping busy writing new material and growing as an artist.
