Next week Grapell will release their album Crier on Roll Call Records. Today the Swedish duo unveiled one more track from the record, giving audiences around the world another glimpse of what is to come. “When The World Ends” is a 6 minute long power ballad featuring saxophonist Björn Arkö.
Consequence of Sound premiered “Heartbreaker,” raving “Full of delicate, unabashed soul carried by rhythmic piano and covered in a coppery sheen that hits just before sundown. Simple sophistication comes to mind when describing their music…. It sounds like a song that could have been created at any point over the last 40 years making it timeless, yet refreshingly organic and nuanced in a time laptop producers get most of the attention.”
My Old Kentucky Blog write in their debut of the track “We Can Only Blame Ourselves” that “Simple sophistication comes to mind when describing their music and this track is no different. It sounds like song that could have been created at any point over the last 40 years making it timeless, yet refreshingly organic”.
The Swedish duo recently curated two playlists, providing context for their own music. The first was for Spotify, aptly titled “Ultimate Ballads.” The second was for Tidal, which the band introduced, saying “These are 10 perfect heartbreak songs. Heartbreak seems like a natural topic for us, considering the theme of our upcoming album, ‘Crier.’ Writing the perfect ballad is one of the hardest things to do, but the people who wrote these 10 songs did it. Because we’re from Sweden, it also felt like a requirement to include at least one song by Håkan Hellström – the Swedish master of heartbreak songs.”
