Hi Guys, thanks for having me! I’ve been great, busy planning for the album and releasing this single so as much music as possible which is always a good thing.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Flex“?
Sure so ‘Flex’ is a dancehall inspired beat I wrote over the summer, featuring the viral sensation MdotR. It’s my attempt at a more commercial side of my repertoire.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I wouldn’t say it was any one event, but a lot of the vibes and hook-ups at all the house parties I went to when I was a student and just that instant attraction to someone when you’re all dancing and having a great time. Lust at first sight.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
I’m working with the feature on the record MdotR to push the tune out as much as possible and I know our schedules are pretty tight but a video is definitely something we are discussing, so hopefully we can come together and make that happen.
How was the recording and writing process?
I’d say almost everything I’m doing right now is really home-grown and as organic as possible. I make everything in a home studio in a bedroom basically, where I feel super comfortable and at ease to write the best stuff I can and then when it comes to the finishing touches I have a sound engineer in Brighton I’ve worked with for a number of years who just helps with those perfect touches, shout out to Paul Win Audio, the guys a wizard. Then the collab just came together really easily, MdotR jumped on and smashed out a killer verse and we finished with a great final track.
How’s your new album coming along?
The new album is going to be a banger, some huge tracks and I’m really starting to open up and experiment with a sound that I think is unique for the music I make. So I’m really happy with how it’s going so far and I’d say I am 60% finished on it.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
So I’m hoping around January/February for the release date, kick off the new year with a bang, as far as titles go I’m still trying to make up my mind, so watch this space a little closer to the release date.
What other styles and rhythms will you get to explore on this record?
I have a real big varied mix, I explore a lot of Future RnB because it’s what I’m really loving right now, but there are elements of hip-hop which is where I originate from musically and even a bhangra style track which I love on the album, but critically it’s all in my own writing style so it’s cohesive.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yeah absolutely, I love playing live and used to perform all the time in my last band. I’m just trying to work out the best way to get the show out there as I am a solo producer now and there are logistics to live shows that I’ve never really had to consider before. But as soon as the album is out there, the live shows will not be far behind, towards Easter time.
What else is happening next in Land Before Bedtime‘s world?
Next is just promoting this album making the best sound I possibly can, and organisation some video content to support that and creating a killer live show.
